Dr. Griswold is originally from Michigan. He was born in Detroit in 1956. He obtained his BS and DO degrees from Michigan State University in East Lansing Michigan. He served his residency in the Michigan State University-Michigan Health Center consortium for ophthalmology in Detroit, Mi. Dr. Griswold is a third generation D.O. His Father and Grandfather were both Osteopathic physicians. (As well as two Uncles!). His Grandfather, father and two uncles were all family practitioners, so Dr. Griswold has a strong background in traditional medicine.
He decided to specialize in Ophthalmology and moved to Tucson in 1993. Dr. Griswold is a member of ASCRS (The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons), ISRS (The International Society of Refractive Surgeons), and the AAO (American Academy of Ophthalmology), three of the most progressive and innovative groups concerning refractive surgery.
"My practice philosophy is simple, to provide quality eye care in a pleasant, professional and comfortable setting." To achieve this goal we do not "overbook" and Dr. Griswold personally examines every patient every visit. " I think that there is a lot to be said in favor of the traditional doctor-patient relationship, where you know the patient not only as a disease process but as a person as well".
"Often, symptoms that may seem inconsequential to the patient may have devastating effects on their vision. I hope to provide an environment that each patient feels comfortable sharing every element of their health care with me".

Dr. Griswold is a general ophthalmologist with skill and expertise in treating a wide range of eye conditions. Dr. Griswold performs cataract, glaucoma, refractive surgery, LASIK, eyelid surgery, dry eye management, diabetic eye exams, as well as "routine" eye exams on a regular basis. He utilizes several sub specialists in areas such as retina, pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, cornea and oculoplastic surgery if needed.

Dr. Griswold is married (1981) and has three children. He enjoys fly-fishing, camping, hunting, hiking and exploring the outdoors with his family.
